Instead of filling gas tanks, we’ll be filling the blood banks on Wednesday, May 25 for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics/DeGowin Blood Center. The DeGowin Blood Center will be on hand, drawing blood from 10 am to 2 pm. The general public is welcome to donate their time and blood. Plan on 45 minutes to donate and rest.

Please join us for a special cause and bring a family member or friend!

The DeGowin Blood Center is a hospital-based blood center that collects blood for UI Hospitals and Clinics patients.

Each week more than 600 blood products are transfused at the hospital. Cancer patients, surgical patients, premature infants, people being treated for accident and trauma, recipients of marrow and organ transplants and patients with diseases such as sickle cell anemia and hemophilia all depend on donated blood as part of their care.
